@DOABeard, 51, is a two-time CrossFit Games qualifier and competitive weightlifter out of the South East Region. -
Dempsey found CrossFit in 2012 and discovered a love for competition. He missed qualifying for the 2014 Games by eight seconds. Later that year, he developed a hernia while trying to break the national record in the clean and jerk for masters. A determined Dempsey delayed surgery until after competing in the 2015 Games, where he finished 18th.

After recovering, Dempsey returned to competition in 2016. -
"I won the 2016 Masters nationals and 2016 Pan Ams (and) also set (the) snatch Pan Am record (95 kg.)," he said. "I love my family and my gym family. I always love competing and want to continue to have fun with this."
