"So I did my first ever @spartanrace at @killingtonmtn this weekend, of course since it was our first time my team & I decided to start with the beast which is 14 miles and 32 obstacles and apparently like the hardest because of Killington's terrain 😳 Also it's where the Spartan races where started. I started training at about 8 weeks out and the last 2 weeks were a wash because I was traveling, but I still actually felt pretty good considering. The big things I noticed were, I wore old shoes which had no tread and I was slipping all over because it was so muddy. I definitely didn't bring enough food, this was a big one I was so hungry by the end. I I had 2 @sixstarpronutrition protein bars and filled my camelbak with Aminos and energy which really helped, but I def needed more bars. Lastly we finished in the dark and didn't know we needed head lights, so that made navigating the mountain just a lil harder haha. But all in all it was pretty fun, I can't believe how sore I am . Probably the most sore I've ever been in my life, but would I do another one...I just may 😳😂😏💪🏼" - 🤳🏼 @calliebundy

“I recently did the Austin sprint in May and it was one of the greatest days of my life. You see I was diagnosed with congenital heart block at age 15 and the condition has degenerated my heart over the last 20 years to the point where I rely on a biventricular pacemaker/defibrillator to keep me alive. I never in my life thought I could do a Spartan, but with the help of my family I did. There were many days that I thought I was crazy, and that I had no business doing such a strenuous event. Good thing that I never let my condition dictate my life, and I continued to train. I celebrated small victories and made sure to “high five myself” as I broke my own time records. I could see myself getting stronger and my body was doing things that I had never allowed it to do. My mind had been transformed as well, as I stopped focusing on what others were able to do and in turn celebrated my own victories. My husband and I have been together for 16 years, and he has been through many rough roads with me. It was the best feeling in the world to cross that finish line with him, as we never thought that was even possible. I am proud to be a Spartan, and I look forward to getting my trifecta one day.” - Michelle Young
