DIVING AT SECCHITELLA, LINOSA ISLAND (Sicily, Italy). Luca Dall'Osto with Claudio Piuri and Luca Alterio of the DDI (Diving activity for people with disabilities) - photo by Claudio Palmisano.
Linosa is 160 km south of Sicily and 160 km east of Tunisia. A 15-minute boat ride from the port takes you to the Secchitella dive site, considered ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND EVOCATIVE DIVES IN THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA. The Secchitella is a rocky ridge with the top at -4 m from the sea surface: it is 200 meters long and is divided into two parts by a canyon, that is more than 20 meters deep. The north wall descends vertically until it touches the sand at -65 m, while to the south the seabed slopes gently. Morphologically the dive is very complex: lava terraces, rock landslides and small caves are home to many fishes. Secchitella also offers dozens of archaeological finds, Neolithic stone anchors and lead-pieces from the Roman era. At least two dives are required to explore most of this beautiful place, that satisfies all divers, from the most experienced to the beginners.
It is always a great pleasure to dive with Mr Cressi.
He is always using and testing his products.. Improving Quality and Safety is a MUST.
